The Stud

Highclere Stud covers nearly 300 acres of undulating grassland, ideally located on the edge of the Hampshire Downs in a sheltered bowl by Beacon Hill.

Established for over a Century, the success that has derived over the years can be attributed to the outstanding grazing.

Currently the stud is home to around 20 quality Highclere mares along with visiting/boarding mares, foals and yearlings.

The Highclere mares are by Group 1 broodmare sires such as Cadeaux Genereux, Danehill, Indian Ridge, Irish River, Kingmambo, Machiavellian, Rainbow Quest, Seeking The Gold and Selkirk.  The stud also has one of the very few mares by Dubai Millennium.

Recent years have seen significant refurbishment to the stud, including the yards, staff housing, additional horse walkers, lunge rings, widened roads and new office complex.  In addition to the stallion and foaling units, there are seven separate stable blocks for mares, weanlings and yearlings, plus two isolation units.

Carolyn Warren has managed Highclere Stud for the last 16 years.  Under her and John Warren's care the stud has enjoyed considerable success and has maintained its high quality at both the sales and on the racecourse.

A wealth of experience behind them, they are widely regarded as being truly professional at placing the right horse in the right sale.  With an excellent team preparing the yearlings and foals to the highest standards, the Highclere draft pride itself on faultless turnout and efficiency at the sales to show the horses at their very best.
