Motivator's first crop will be two-year-olds in 2009.
He has been supported by leading breeders, most of whom intend to keep their yearlings to go into training as home-breds. In fact, 71% of yearlings were in the select sales or retained to race by their breeders.
At the sales, Motivator was the leading first season sire in the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1 with a median of 90,000gns, and his top lot making 230,000gns.
Notable breeders with Motivator foals, yearlings and two-year-olds for 2009 include Frank Stronach, Cheveley Park, Darley, Floors Stud, Earl of Halifax, Haras d'Etreham, Irish National Stud, Juddmonte Farms, Littleton Stud, Meon Valley Stud, Gary and Lesley Middlebrook, New England Stud, Newsells Park Stud, Philip Brady, Plantation Stud, The Royal Studs, Shadwell Stud, Stetchworth Park Stud, Stratford Place Stud, George Strawbridge and Bob Lanigan.
We are thrilled with the positive reports we have had. Motivator really appears to be stamping his stock as quality, well-marked, classy individuals. 2009 will be very exciting to see his first-crop on the racecourse.
The future also looks exciting with 130 quality mares covered in 2007, and another 130 in 2008. In 2008, these included Gr.1 producer Crystal Spray and sisters or half-sisters to Danehill, Commander In Chief, Bullish Luck, Key Change, and Classic Park. The previous year the mares included 33 Gr.1 winners, producers, sisters or daughters.
"Quality filly with tremendous depth." Bob Lanigan, Tullamaine Castle Stud, re filly ex Ceanothus
"A very strong quarters and topline. Excellent temperament. He has scope and a good step. A quality individual." Philip Brady re colt ex Forget Me Not
"I am delighted with the very impressive colt Comic (dam of Hong Kong Derby winner Viva Pataca) has produced by Motivator, and equally pleased that Flirtation (dam of multiple Gr.1 winner Attraction) is safely in-foal to him." Duke of Roxburghe, Floors Stud
